About Us
We are two London-based artists with common interests in materials and processes. We joined forces to bring a community-engaged art project to Londoners to create a collaborative artwork from everyday materials that employs one of the oldest human technologies, the knot.
Gabriella Solti: My multidisciplinary practice reflects on the role and value of labour and skill in the formation of identity and community. My community-engaged art projects convey my deeply held values - my appreciation for the handmade, resourcefulness, working with available materials and respect for the natural environment. gabriellasolti.wordpress.com
Sharmistha Kar: My studio practice employs traditional and contemporary adaptations of embroidery to explore mapping, migration and identity. I work with textile materials sourced from diverse cultures and places that make me aware of their historical significance and their adaptation in contemporary art. The traditional Japanese embroidery technique, Bunka, magnifies the idea of the fragility of our existence. https://sharmisthakar.com/
